Congressman Mark Takano Endorses Assemblymember Tony Thurmond for State Superintendent of Public Instruction

RIVERSIDE, CA – February 8, 2018 – The Tony Thurmond for State Superintendent campaign today announced that Thurmond has received the endorsement of Congressman Mark Takano. Congressman Takano said:

“Tony Thurmond’s experiences have given him a deep understanding of the challenges that I saw students struggle with everyday in my 23 years teaching in public schools. Tony believes that our education system must be built on rigorous curriculum and a commitment to preparing young people for the 21st century economy, while also equipped to support and empower students, whether they be foster youth, English Learners, continuing students, or LGBTQ. As a former California public school teacher, community college leader, and now Congressman, I’m proud to endorse Tony Thurmond for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.”

Congressman Takano joins several of his colleagues in Congress in endorsing Thurmond for State Superintendent. Members of Congress endorsing Thurmond include Karen Bass, Mark DeSaulnier, Jimmy Gomez, Ro Khanna, Barbara Lee, Eric Swalwell, Mike Thompson, and Norma Torres.
