Tony's greatest passion is making sure every child has the same opportunities to succeed that he had. At the age of six, Tony lost his mother Cecilia to cancer, and he moved from the Bay Area to Philadelphia. He was adopted and raised by his cousin Diana Krajewski and her husband Donald, both campus police officers for more than 20 years. They gave Tony a chance in this world, and taught Tony the value of hard work, responsibility, and making sacrifices to get things done.
Today, Tony is putting his 15 years of non-profit management to work as the Executive Director of Beyond Emancipation, a non-profit that provides oversight and mentoring to help former foster youth make successful transitions into adulthood. Tony has raised more than $1 million to support emancipated foster youth in Alameda County, and helped allocate nearly $1 million in funding to support child abuse prevention efforts in Contra Costa County.
In the Assembly, Tony will fight to improve our schools and make college affordable for every California child. The facts show that that every dollar we invest in a college education returns as much as five dollars back into our economy - that's an investment we must make in our kids.
